While it is a well constructed item, as you would expect from Kohler, it does not work as an above-counter vessel. It is really a drop in, unless you want a very strange design. It expects a fairly large hole to be cut into the counter and it then drops into that hole, leaving a much smaller above counter profile. Unfortunately, the Kohler website installation guide doesn't show this nor does the description.
If you are looking for an above counter vessel that you simply place on top of a standard drain cutout, this product is not for you.
What you see in the photograph is the part that is above the counter. It doesn't show you the whole section you need to place within a large cut out
