(More customer reviews)I purchased this unit to replace an 'off the rack' unit I got from one of those chain home improvement stores a few months ago. The unit I previously purchased had stopped working because of a rusted spring in the actuator. When I removed it, I also found that the grommet used to keep it in place had also rusted, along with some areas around the bolt.
When I got the Kohler unit, I found that it had a lot of plastic parts. Now, in plumbing, you might think this is undesirable. However, in this case, it is perfect. All the parts that rusted so quickly in my old unit are now plastic, with the exception of the spring. The spring in this unit is smaller, and better protected from corrosion since it appears to not be inside any tubes which come into contact with the soap.
Time will tell if this unit will outlast its predecessor. One thing is for certain, the quality of the finish is far superior, and the quality of the build appears equally good. I feel very satisfied that I made the right purchase this time.
