(More customer reviews)We originally bought a generic universal drain kit from the hardware store but found that we couldn't get the drain control to work properly for our American Standard Colony Tub. The internal drain pipe stop always leaked. Also our tub was too tall for the standard inexpensive kit and required additional piping and modifications to make the overflow longer and make the drain operate. This name brand universal kit is designed for the full range of American Standard tubs. It comes with two waste tees to fit very large tubs. We had to cut the overflow shorter (in the provided directions) and the drain pipe shorter as well (not in the directions) to get it to fit. The overflow tube face is angled and has an angled gasket to mate to the tub and prevent leaks. The mechanism works for our small tub, but is not super smooth. The spring is not quite strong enough to pop up the drain when the tub is filled with water without providing extra manual help. It takes some time and trial and error to get the linkage length just right to operate the drain even with the recommended dimensions provided in the instructions. When I bought it, it was $120. It costs way more than the universal drains at the hardware store, but it is all metal and fits American Standard tubs well shortening the installation time. Super saver shipping was super fast for me (1-2 days).
